This is on behalf of a friend, just an idea to throw out there.

Let's say an admin doesnt want to reserve names cause they're too generic, like "Neo".
But Mr. Admin wants to give reserved slots to users without doing reserved nicks.
The problem lies in that once someone connects, the 2nd person gets to be "(1)Neo", so they cant authenticate.
So why not add a username_field, simliar to password_field

You could assign a reserved slot to the WONIDs of the player, you don't need to enter the nick. You'd have to add an entry for every WONID of the player, though.

Good idea, except right now WONid's are pretty messed.
One friend of mine has a different ID almost everytime he plays and he has no idea why. And I'm not talking a set of 3, like dozens literally.
Maybe when they fix it so it's one WONid per CDKEY, then we'll be golden. 8-)

Does this guy have a static IP (or at least a static subnet)? Reserve the slot by IP addy using ips.ini

Nope.
Thanks for the thought though, we can work around it and just live with reserved nicks, I for one am for them, but the other admin of the sites doesn't like reserved nicks.
Probably because of Dalnet. :)

He suggested that idea, and I figured I'd post it up here in case anyone else wanted it. I'm all set as far as doing workarounds.
